Musket and cannon drills, open fire cooking, candle and soap demonstrations, quilting and tating, sewing, map maker, surgeon, musket ball maker, children’s toys and games, knife making, farming, and carpentry.  Tours open to the public 10:00 am to 4:00 pm.

Then as in real life, on Sunday September 16th, the 13th will be trecking to Saratoga Battlefield to take part in the re-enactment with American and British Soilders re-enacting set of the 1777 scene with tents, campfires, musket and cannon firing, and select special programs.  Discuss strategy with officers, judge a court martial, browse colonial wares, go on a “reconnaissance” party, learn about open hearth cooking or take part in a mock drill.

13th Albany County Militia, 4th Company

MUSTER DAY  Sunday, August 26, 2007  at the Stillwater Blockhouse Museum from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm.

This is your big day to enlist in the 13th Albany County Militia.  In the 18th century many men from local farms and businesses joined the militia to protect their homes and families.  Today the purpose of the militia is “Living History”.  Each year our group grows by leaps and bounds.  The 13th has begun to travel around the area to other historical sites and joining in with other groups to participate in their history.  If you are interested in the Revolutionary War and French and Indian War,  join the 13th Albany County Militia and learn how it was to be in the American Colonies of the 18th century.  Living history is the best way to teach, learn and have good family fun.
